La Sportiva Hiking Boots & La Sportiva Trail Running Shoes

With all the excitement on Friday we nearly overlooked the arrival on Friday of our newest La Sportiva hiking boots and trail running shoes.

For you hikers, we received the La Sportiva Cascade GTX, the FC 3.0 GTX, and the FC 1.1.  All of these are excellent hiking boots. The Cascade GTX is a heavy-duty waterproof leather and fabric hiking boot for long days with a heavy pack; the FC 3.0 is a lightweight, versatile, flex-friendly, mid-height fabric and leather waterproof hiking boot for day hikes and moderate backpack loads. The FC 1.1 is a great-fitting, lightweight, breathable, multi-use, light hiking shoe.

For you trail runners, we received three men’s models and four women’s models so far. In men’s, we have the newest Crosslite, La Sportiva’s low profile neutral lightweight shoe with aggressive lugs for increased traction and cushioning. The Crosslite was a Runner’s World Best Buy after its review in October, 2008. We also have the Wildcat, a stable, neutral, and extremely well cushioned trail running shoe. And we have the newest Fireblade, a popular, low profile, neutral, lightweight extremely stable performance trainer with moderate pronation control.

Times Have Changed

The construction of the new Bozeman parking garage behind Schnee’s corporate offices on Main Street is nearly complete. A bit behind schedule, the Bozeman parking garage is 5 stories (including the basement level) of downtown parking.

Sadly, our view of the Bridger Mountains is completely blotted out, but we look forward to more downtown shopping when the garage is finally opened. Hopefully that day is just around the corner, both for the sake of downtown Bozeman, the construction crew that has been working diligently in all kinds of weather and for our customer service team who have continued to serve our telephone customers over the constant drone of heavy machinery. See before and after images below:

The 28th Annual Christmas Stroll on Main Street in Bozeman, Montana

The 28th Annual Christmas Stroll in Historic Downtown Bozeman was packed this year. The unusually warm weather encouraged people to stay outside longer, which actually made shopping easier for the folks inside.

There was food to be found, Christmas carolers, Santa Claus, hay wagons, plenty of Christmas shopping and of course the traditional lighting ceremony of the downtown decorations.

Schnee’s Boots and Shoes’ kicked of the Christmas Stroll with the eagerly anticipated annual visit from the Bernese Mountain Dogs of the Heartland Bernese Mountain Dog Club. They were a hit as always. Schnee’s Boots and Shoes also featured an elegant brass band playing traditional Christmas music. There was much cheer and shoe shopping.

The Powder Horn was also hopping with sportsmen and women escaping the crowds to browse all the gear and ranchwear. The Powder Horn staff was hard at work – as always.

For more information on the Christmas Stroll or other downtown activities contact Downtown Bozeman Association at 586-4008 or visit www.downtownbozeman.org.

Times they are a changin’

The construction of the new Bozeman parking garage behind our corporate offices on Main Street is in full swing. Although we’re bracing for the loss of our precious Bridger Mountains view, we’re excited by the prospects of better parking and an end to the shifting availability of driving routes around town.

Our Customer Service staff have been champs as they walk folks through the finer points of footwear selection and fitting – continuing to provide outstanding service despite the roar of front-loaders and the incessant drone of concrete saws.

The deepening “Pit” is a wonder to observe; offering a surreal distraction from our daily work projects and a glimpse into what the future downtown area will look like.
